NORMA EDITH GARCIA
EL MONTE PROMISE FOUNDATION PAST PRESIDENT
RIO HONDO COLLEGE BOARD TRUSTEE AND PRESIDENT
Ms. Garcia is the former Board Chair of the El Monte Promise Foundation and an elected member of the Rio Hondo Community College Governing Board of Trustees. Presently, she serves as the Deputy Director of the Planning and Development Agency for Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation. Previously, Ms. Garcia served as the Community and Environmental Deputy to Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Gloria Molina and was responsible for policy development in a myriad of environmental and open space issues.
Ms. Garcia is an ardent believer in building better communities and works to achieve her vision through her active participation in numerous civic and professional organizations including: the El Monte Coalition of Latino Professionals (emCLP), Latino Urban Forum, and Hispanics Organized for Political Equality (HOPE). Ms. Garcia was honored as the 49th Assembly District Latina of the Year for Community Involvement. She attended Citrus Community College, transferred and graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science and a M.A. in Urban Planning. Ms. Garcia enjoys traveling, attending Dodger games and spending timer with her growing family. Ms. Garcia is a life-long resident of the beautiful community of El Monte.
