El Monte Promise Foundation exists to cultivate and sustain a college-prepared culture for children and families in the City of El Monte and its surrounding communities. We have a history of building collective power to transform our community.

When you learn, teach, when you get, give.”
– Maya Angelou, poet, activist

Community Partners serves as EMPF’s fiscal sponsor, providing us with the infrastructure to foster our organization’s mission.

Beginning with a partnership with the California Community Foundation through the El Monte Community Building Initiative (CBI), EMPF has become a guiding force in El Monte and the surrounding communities.

We have continued to build partnerships with a variety of institutional and community organizations for our long and short-term programs including the Cities of El Monte and South El Monte, El Monte Union High School District, El Monte City School District, Mountain View School District, Rio Hondo College, CSU Los Angeles, UC Irvine, El Monte/South El Monte Chamber of Commerce, 1:1 fund, First 5 LA, Asian Pacific Community Fund, and Abriendo-Puertas.

To support students with their college applications and enrollment

Mariana Baserga was a long-time volunteer, friend, and supporter of the El Monte Promise Foundation. Before Mariana passed away on September 26, 2019, Mariana made her family and friends promise to keep fighting for the things she was most passionate about: children and access to college education.

The Mariana Baserga Moving Barriers Fund was established by Mariana’s loved ones and supported by her family and friends who want to carry on Mariana’s wishes. All gifts to the Moving Barriers Fund will go directly to help students pay for college applications and enrollment fees for college and university.
