The California Community Foundation establishes its El Monte Community Building Initiative (CBI) to invest $10 million over 10 years to increase educational standards, community resources, affordable housing, healthy lifestyles and opportunities in the El Monte region. The CBI commits to fund non-profit organizations in the community to support these goals, including Amigos de Los Rios, Community Leaders for a Better El Monte and Soccer for Success.
